Västervik

This was the last "big" town on the coast before we finished the trip at Oskarshamn. A complicated route in from seaward, and several marinas to choose from, but I think we got it right, in view of the fine facilities ashore (and a pub!).

There was even a bit fenced off for the local wildfowl, and we found crested grebes, coots and swans, all with their offspring (I've never seen 5 cygnets from one set of parents before, must be something in the water).

There were also a pair of beautiful ketches moored up, each about twice the size of Voltair. They gave me mixed feelings - admiration of their beauty and power, aspiration to consider owning something of that class, pause for thought about all the drawbacks of doing so, and, finally, satisfaction with our beautiful Nic!
